In writing about the Sappers and Miners in Western Australia I became aware that this was a larger subject than I had initially thought. There became wider topics to consider here: the Corps history (timeline, the Great Exhibition) and its place in Colonial history (the ‘nearly’ Crimean War, WA Convict Establishment). It also seemed useful to touch on some of the structures of the British Army in general (medals, courts martial, pensions, records) and WA activity in particular (regiments).

Here then is a list of items ‘Of Interest’, in no particular order, which seems to grow by the month:

Corps Timeline

Medals and Badges

Courts Martial

War Office Records

Going to Pension

The Great Exhibition 1851

The Crimean War Connection

Convict Hiring Depots

British Regiments in Western Australia
